And then one day, it was over.

The memory of how it happened was hazy. Perhaps it was as simple as being ported out, perhaps there was a great experiment, bringing together physicists, chemists, alchemists and scientists to get something WORKING. But like the memories of that time, that other dimension, singular events come and go, like a dream, or an age past.

From the very start, however, there were changes.

Um ... no? Not yet?

[failureisntachoice]

[ She sighs and reaches to muss with his hair. ]

Sure. I'll buy that. This time. If you want something that fun to happen, you should tell me sooner next time.

[dendarii]

[ He leans into her touch affectionately. ]

Guess that means I missed my chance now.

[failureisntachoice]

I wouldn't say that...

[dendarii]

[ Miles lights up instantly. ]

Really? You wanna then? We don't have to do anything crazy. I just think it's fun.

[failureisntachoice]

Do you promise to return us to normal if someone comes in here? No waiting?

[dendarii]

[ An emphatic nod. ]

Promise. Even if it's someone who knows, like Da or Bothari.

[failureisntachoice]

Good. Neither of us need to be stepped on.

[dendarii]

I don't want that. I like getting to explore. An' I like not hurting for a while.

[ He offers a tiny hand out to Tex. ]

[failureisntachoice]

[ She takes his hand in hers. ]

Then we can explore. You want to start here?

[dendarii]

Uh huh. Not many people come back here, and there's places to climb if you're small enough.

[failureisntachoice]

As long as you don't get yourself knocked down on your ass in the process. I'm ready when you are.

[dendarii]

I'll be real careful.

[ As careful as he always is, anyway. With a grin, he concentrates for a moment. Then, in a split second, the two of them are back down to that roughly six inch scale that Miles was at before. This version of Miles has no reservation at all using this power, and thus no issues getting it to work properly. ]

[failureisntachoice]

[ Well, it's one way to keep him entertained. Perhaps not entirely safely should someone come stampeding through the room, but so long as Miles complies with their agreement and she stays nearby, they should have that under control.

It's a strange way to see the world and she frowns slightly as she glances around the suddenly larger-than-life room. ] Where to first, kid?

[dendarii]

[ Miles' gaze roves over the suddenly huge room. (And his usual litany of bone aches has gone completely silent, which is enough to make him happy even without adventures at hand.) ]

There's a pile of books over there. Not too high.

[ There's a shorter pile next to it. ]

[failureisntachoice]

[ That's a relief. She had a momentary worry he'd get too ambitious with his exploration. The fact that he's able to move more easily and without fear has her willingly following him. ]

You need a lift up there?

[dendarii]

Nuh-uh! I can do it by myself. Nothing hurts at all.

[ He just wants to get up somewhere relatively high without technically breaking any promises.. Excitedly, he clambers up the side of the pile. ]

[failureisntachoice]

Is that right?

[ Well, far be it from her to prevent him from climbing his way to the top. She stays at the bottom, ready to catch him should be fall. ]

You should have brought a flag to put at the top.

[dendarii]

[ He sits on the edge of the stack, his tiny legs dangling. ]

... I should have! I didn't think about that. Maybe we can do that next time.

[failureisntachoice]

[ Once he's gotten himself situation, she starts to climb the books herself so she can sit beside him. ]

We could borrow a napkin and turn it into one small enough to carry.

[dendarii]

Or I could make a tiny one ahead of time and then pick it up after we're small. I like doing that.

[ One upside of having this power is that Miles can spend hours building and playing with miniature things. One of his few hobbies that aren't wildly dangerous. ]

[failureisntachoice]

That's what I meant. [ And this could be one hell of a project to keep him busy. ] Think we could make a bunch of flags and hide them throughout the house? It'd take them a while to find them all.

[dendarii]

Oh! Yeah! People would find them later and wonder if we had fairies around or something. 'specially Ivan.

[ Miles is downright gleeful at the thought. ]

[failureisntachoice]

[ She snickers lightly at that. ]

Then it's settled. We're making flags later. We can map out our plan of attack and execute it tomorrow.

[dendarii]

[ Miles likes that part too. ]

Ivan's gonna be so confused. Poor Ivan.
