Jon is smug, Jean-Claude is alarmed. Even if he thinks only of the past hundred years, Jean-Claude has had too much sex with partners he wouldn't have chosen, thanks to the ardeur, and he's rather sick of it. In this case, he truly wouldn't mind acting on this impulse with Jon, but he's worried about that overconfidence meaning Jon doesn't know what he's getting into.
